In a high-tech production environment, an obstructive waste stream is the last thing you want. This was also the case at FrieslandCampina, where a by-product – milk powder – caused unwanted disruptions in part of the production process. The challenge? A controlled, hygienic and efficient way to dispose of this powder within an existing factory setup, without disturbing the process through air movement or manual handling.
Together with the team at FrieslandCampina, Stansz developed an innovative disposal chute system, fully tailored to the space, the process, and the safety requirements of the location.
A solution that fits the factory
The chute Stansz designed is built specifically for this situation. It runs from the upper floor downwards and is 4 meters long. The top section extends about 1 meter above the floor and contains a sturdy hatch for easy insertion of waste bags.
The rest of the system is made of stainless steel (RVS 304) and has a square cross-section of 550 x 500 mm – robust, hygienic, and suitable for heavy-duty use. At the bottom, an electric slide gate and angled outlet ensure the milk powder is safely transported to storage. A possible connection to a container will be developed in further consultation.
Custom-designed for the lab
A separate requirement applied to a laboratory area within the same facility: avoiding air movement. For this purpose, a compact chute with a so-called roller inlet was installed. This creates an airlock effect – ideal for spaces where airflow must be prevented.
The system can also be integrated with an access control system and automatically blocks input when the container is full. This makes the chute not only safe, but also intelligently designed for everyday use.
Collaboration over standard solutions
This case clearly shows how Stansz works: we listen, we think along, and we tailor our solutions to the customer’s specific situation. No standard product, but a practical solution that truly works. For FrieslandCampina, this meant an efficient, hygienic and safe way to dispose of milk powder as a by-product.
