De Muzentoren

A Stansz laundry chute for the Muzentoren in The Hague

On the top floors of the hotel, the first rooms are already being vacated. Housekeeping kicks into gear: sheets are stripped, towels collected, bathrobes folded. Navigating fully loaded laundry carts through narrow hallways and busy elevators? That takes time, energy, and disrupts guests just starting their breakfast.

That’s why more and more hotels are opting for a laundry chute. No more occupied elevators. Instead, soiled linen disappears from sight—efficiently, quietly, and hygienically. What does a laundry chute mean for a hotel? An invisible yet indispensable link in a smoothly running operation.

The Muzentoren building is a striking 78-metre-high landmark in the centre of The Hague, with 18 floors. In 2022, it was transformed into two hotels with a combined floor area of 17,800 m². It now operates as the Moxy Hotel and Residence Inn Hotel, two Marriott brands.

To handle laundry from 300 rooms, Marriott chose to install a stainless steel laundry chute by Stansz during the transformation. To meet fire safety requirements, the chute is equipped not only with 16 EI60 fire-resistant intake doors, but also with connections for a sprinkler system.
The entire renovation was carried out according to the BREEAM-NL certification method for a sustainably built environment.
