Meander Medical Center Amersfoort

How Meander Medical Center Eliminated Waste Stress

When Meander Medical Center opened its new hospital, one thing was clear: it had to be a place focused on peace and recovery. No more waste carts in the corridors. No unpleasant odors. No risk of bacterial spread. But how do you achieve that in a hospital of over 100,000 m²?

The solution? Smart waste chutes from Stansz.

Less hassle, more peace of mind
Meander chose a combined waste and laundry chute system. Across the building, 9 chutes were installed with 46 intake doors on the wards for waste and laundry. Thanks to these systems, waste and soiled laundry are transported directly and safely. Each chute is equipped with a control panel that allows staff to easily select the type of waste or laundry. At the bottom of the chute, a container carousel ensures everything lands in the correct container, increasing storage capacity during busy periods.

To prevent unpleasant odors, a fan creates a slight underpressure in the system. An automatic cleaning system regularly cleans the inside of the chutes, preventing them from becoming a breeding ground for bacteria. Automatic fire dampers also ensure safety in case of fire.
